When you declared war,
It was for no reason at all.
Always it‘s the soldiers that toil,
When tempers started to boil.
And there you sit in your sheltered rooms.
Safe away from the doom and gloom,
As your soldiers bleed and die,
Their cold open eyes asking why.
Oh, an enemy’s heaven sent,
For politicians and presidents.
A good show of national power,
Could make up for those two towers.
It’s easy to justify war.
Tell people it’s freedom they’re fighting for.
Innocent people can’t hide,
When bombs dropped from the skies.
They can’t even ask why.
You decided they had to die.
When the war is all done,
What has really been won?
Was looking good at the polls,
Why people got shot full of holes?
But now your people ask why.
This time will they be denied?
Feed their anger with an eye for an eye -
A fight for country and mom’s apple pie.
The axis of evil’s not done.
So you’ll have to stay number one.
Was war to protect your own soil?
Or really, was it just about oil?
How long can the people be foiled?
